About this bottle

This incredible single-cask malt was distilled at the Highland Distillery Ben Nevis. It was filled into cask by the owner of Nikka and Ben Nevis distillery, and the man widely regarded as the father of Japanese whisky, Masataka Taketsuru on the 28th of September 1990.  The cask chosen was a remade Hogshead, which was made from staves that had formed a freshly dumped ex-bourbon barrel. These staves were completely sanded down to look like new wood, and finished with galvanized iron hoops which had been produced by coopers working at the time in Kinnaird's Cooperage in Leith, Scotland. Unfortunately, Masataka Taketsuru passed away aged 90, only months prior to this malt was bottled in October 2015. Only 235 individually numbered bottles were drawn from the cask, all at a natural strength of 61.3%.
